The Secrets of Mineral Water
As natural as nature intended
The journey starts in the mountain as rain water. Different types of rocks act as natural filters and as it seeps down the earth before reaching the aquifer deep below the ground it picks important minerals which are essential to our health. Aquifer keeps the water protected from impurities and contaminants until the water gets bottled at the source.
Bicarbonate is a natural acid-neutralizer which helps
to balance the pH of your body. It will also
neutralize the lactic acid that has built up
in the muscles to reduce fatigue
Calcium is obvious but often times we do not get enough of it. The recommended daily requirement ranges from 800mg to 1,200mg depending on sex and age.
Magnesium gets overlooked by a lot of people but it might be the reason why you are always feeling tired. Magnesium is responsible for hundreds of biological reactions in our body and most notably between nerves and muscles. Daily recommended intake is 400mg to 450mg. Magnesium deficiency can lead to: inability to sleep or insomnia, anxiety, depression or restlessness, muscle soreness or spasms, headaches, fatigue or unusual tiredness, and etc.
Not all water is created equal
We all know minerals are important to our health and our body cannot produce them, but how do you get them?
Mineral water may be it's the answer to that. When you look at the label next time, pay attention to 3 naturally occurring minerals: bicarbonate, calcium, and magnesium.
Food and beverage pairing tips
Rule of thumb: high TDS with red meat and low TDS with white meat and seafood.
However this question often gets asked a lot: "out of the many water you have tried, which one you think it's the best?" The answer is plain and simple: "the best water doesn't exist."
Perfume can be used as an analogy in this situation. There might be someone's favorite perfume but there will not be the best because each scent is suited for a different occasion. Water is no different.
Depending on the occasion and the dishes being ordered, the water sommelier will suggest according to the selection being chosen and advise the client an appropriate bottle to go with. Different TDS level will also affect the taste of a cup of tea, coffee, and even wine. Come experiment yourself with gourmet cuisine to discover your food pairing of choice.
